Noetic Healing – A Brief Course on Modern Hypnotherapy

This workshop will provide an overview of hypnotic strategies and suggestions for helping individuals better self-manage chronic pain conditions. While an overview of the neurophysiology of pain will be provided, the emphasis of the workshop will be on applied clinical techniques, demonstrations, brief hypnotic exercises and the opportunity for consultation. After participating in the workshop, participants will have the resources and skills to evaluate a patient with chronic pain for hypnosis treatment and design a treatment intervention that addresses the various problems identified.

The fundamental problems in today’s society involve experiences of fragmentation. People experience a sense of fragmentation within themselves, from each other and the world at large. Violence and trauma are consequences of fragmentation, and also are causes of fragmentation. The antidote to fragmentation is connection.

In this one day workshop, Dr Stefanakis explored how compassion and hypnosis can activate this antidote and can provide us with a foundation for intervening in violence and trauma.

Through discussion and demonstration, Dr. Stefanakis presented his C.O.R.E. (Centering, Opening, Releasing and Extending) essential components for effective interventions supported by theory, research and practice from more than two decades addressing violence and trauma issues.

Dr. Lee Pulos, PhD, ABP

Dr. Lee Pulos is a clinical psychologist who earned his undergraduate degree at U.C.L.A. and his Doctorate in Psychology at the University of Denver. Upon graduation he held a clinical appointment at Indiana University Medical School and was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Wisconsin. Lee has been awarded a Diplomate in Clinical Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) and is currently Clinical Assistant Professor Emeritus in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of British Columbia (UBC). He is a past president of the BC Psychological Association and the current President of the Canadian Society of Clinical Hypnosis (BC Div), and conducts ongoing training for health care professionals. Dr. Pulos has published numerous professional articles and has written several books, including Beyond Hypnosis and Miracles and Other Realities. His most recent publication is Fearless and Free: Using EFT for Healing and Vitality.

Integrating Hypnosis and Attachment Disorders

Dr. Brown is Director, Center for Integrative Psychotherapy, Newton MA,  Associate Clinical Professor, Harvard Medical School; taught hypnotherapy for 41 years. His 14 books include 3 books on hypnosis style. He spent 40 years studying Buddhist meditation and contributed to 2 books of East-West dialogues in psychology with H.H. The Dalai Lama. His current research is on the contribution of early attachment to complex trauma.

Sophisticated assessment tools are available to identify attachment pathology in adults. Less attention, however, has been paid to the development of effective treatment protocols. This workshop is specifically about state-of-the-art, effective ways to treat insecure attachment pathology, primarily in personality and dissociative disorder patients. Teaching format: lecture, demonstration, and case presentation. Hypnosis training recommended but not required.
